(Video+) Watch International Space Station from the inside

Space enthusiasts can now watch International Space Station (ISS) from the inside. Astronauts at the ISS regularly tweets stunning photos of Earth and sky captured from space at daytime and night time as well. Now, they have released 360- degree tour of the interior of the space station.

Scientists from the European Space Agency (ESA) have taken several images of ISS and knitted together for the VR viewing. In the video one can see space modules built for the American space agency NASA. The first module shows the onboard space laboratory, installed in 2001 while the second video shows the Harmony module, installed in 2007. The latter one consists of beds for the crew where they sleep.

Astronaut Samantha Critoforetti from ESA captured the images for the 360-degree video during her stay on the ISS. Astronauts have also released time-lapse video and interactive map on the ESA’s website.

The International Space Station is habitable artificial satellite which was launched in 1998. Being the largest artificial body in orbit it can often be seen with the naked eye from Earth. The ISS provides microgravity environment for the astronomers to conduct their research and experiments in biology, human biology, physics, astronomy, meteorology and several other fields.

ISS orbits at an average height of 400 km above the Earth and it completes 15.54 orbits per day. Moreover, ISS is a joint venture of five space agencies — NASA, Roscosmos, JAXA, ESA and CSA.
