This is huge! Micromax, the Indian smartphone company has released its Canvas Mega 2 smartphone with a 6-inch HD display. Priced at Rs 7,999, the Mega 2 comes with one of the largest display sizes in the price segment.
The Micromax Canvas Mega 2 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and comes with qHD 960×540 pixels resolution, which is a let down for a 6-inch IPS LCD display. Under the hood, the device runs on a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB RAM. It comes with an 8GB of internal storage, further expandable via a microSD card (up to 32GB).
The Canvas Mega 2 sports an autofocus rear camera of 8MP with LED flash and a 5MP front shooter for selfie purpose. The device has a slim design and bears a plastic and glass construction. The handset is backed by a 3000mAh battery and supports 4G LTE bands, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.
Mr. Shubhajit Sen, Chief Marketing Officer, Micromax Informatics said, “With the proliferation of 3G and 4G networks, the mobile video traffic is expected to grow at a CAGR of 88% between 2014 and 2019. Mobile gaming is another big area of growth with user base likely to reach 320 million by 2020 from the current 180 million. This has led to the phablet category’s phenomenal growth of 190% in 2015 over previous years.”
He further added, “We believe, there will be further rise of mobile internet and persistent increase in demand for larger screens and video consumption. Micromax spotted these trends early on with its super successful Doodle series and now furthering it with Mega series by offering consumers various large screen smartphones options to provide an immersive internet and entertainment experience.”.
