Arnab has been quite aggressive and arrogant against Pakistan and Pakistan-sponsored terrorist organisations since the Uri attack which happened on September 18, 2016.

Arnab Goswami, the editor in chief of Times Now news channel has been provided with Y category security following continuous threats from Pakistan-based terrorist groups. Under the Y category, he will get the 24/7 protection from 20 security guards, while two personal security officers will guard him in close proximity.

The decision has been made by the Central Government after a report from the Intelligence bureau stating that Arnab has been targeted by various Islamic extremist groups due to his sensitive remarks on the most popular News Prime Time program.

Arnab has been quite aggressive and arrogant against Pakistan and Pakistan-sponsored terrorist organisations since the Uri attack which happened on September 18, 2016.

He has been quite strong in his nationalist stand, and it has reportedly irked terrorist groups based out in Pakistan. He even used to shout against the guests who appear in the show from Pakistan, and many times, he opened up their false stands and obsession towards state sponsored terrorism.

As Arnab is based out in Mumbai, the Central Government will ask the Maharashtra Home Ministry to handle the security cover of the celebrated journalist. Arnab is not the first journalist to get protection from the state. Earlier, Samachar Plus’s Umesh Kumar has been granted Y category security, while Zee News’s Sudhir Chaudhary and Ashwini Kumar Chopra were being given Z and X-category security respectively.

The decision to give Y category security to Arnab Goswami has not gone well with many people. One eminent personality who criticised this move is none other than former Supreme Court Chief Justice Markandey. Through a post in his official social media page, he called Arnab a joker, and added that he has nothing but arrogance in his mind.

In the meantime, another Facebook page which is being named “I support Arnab Goswami” has also been created, and it is gaining more and more popularity in the recent days.
