Truck carrying 1000 iPhones worth Rs 2.25 crore looted in Delhi, Two arrested

The Police has arrested two persons for an alleged robbery in the South Delhi area. The accused have been identified as Mehtab Alam aged 24 and Arman aged 22.

Both are residents of Mahipalpur area and are accused of being involved in the ,loot of a truck carrying huge consignment of iPhone 5s mobile phones worth Rs. 22.5 crores with other accomplices.

While Mehtab was arrested from Mahipalpur area, Arman was caught from Rangpuri area of South Delhi.

The police has recovered the looted mobile phones which are more than 900 in no. and also the car used in the crime from the accused.

According to the Depity Commissioner of police (south) Mr. Ishwar Singh a truck carrying large consignment of iPhone 5s mobiles was coming from Okhla area of South delhi to deliver in Dwarka in South west Delhi and was looted near Rajokari Flyover by the arrested duo and other accomplice.

And as told by the DCP, this robbery was conducted on September 13, 2016. The robbers with their accomplices first hijacked the truck and kept the truck driver captive for some time before dumping him near Dwarka Link Road.

The officer told the reporters that the two other robbers – Ramu and Bhola were the former drivers of the truck and had left their jobs only 15 days ago and during the investigation the police found that both the drivers had followed the same route as was taken by the driver of the looted truck carrying mobiles.

According to Mr. Singh the police has interrogated the arrested persons and they have confessed their crime with other partners Bhola, Ramu, and Jitender. The officer further added that the police is investigating the crime very sincerely and conducting raids to arrest the remaining gang members at the earliest.

The officer further asserted on maintaining law and order in area.
