New Delhi: India’s first Olympic medal winning woman wrestler Sakshi Malik arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday morning. The bronze medal winner at Rio was welcomed by some ministers from the state of Haryana. The sports minister of her state, Anil Vij accompanied Sakshi on her return journey from Brazil.
The award-winning wrestler is also entitled to receive some gifts from various states and sports organizations.
Sakshi Malik met with the Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar and senior ministers OP Dhankar and Abhimanyu just after arriving. Manohar Lal Khattar awarded her a cheque of Rs.2.5 crore.
The Haryana government made her the brand ambassador for “Beti Bachao” campaign. She was also offered a Class II government job under the Haryana state government, which she asked for time to think about. Sakshi was awarded the honorable “pagri” at Bahadurgarh.
The 58 Kg freestyle wrestling champion got Rs.1 crore from the Delhi Government. The present employee at the Indian Railways was granted a promotion in her hob. The Railways also gifted her a cash reward of Rs.60 lakhs.
Grand Reception for Rio Bronze Medallist Sakshi Malik in Haryana
Sakshi received a complimentary ride in India’s most prestigious train, the Maharajas’ Express by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The International Fitness Festival has offered her with a cheque of Rs.5 lakhs.
Sakshi Malik recently mentioned in an interview about her dream of traveling by airplane. Hearing this, Air India has gifted her a couple return ticket to travel anywhere in the world service by Air India flights. She can make her dream trip anytime within a year.
While receiving 23-year-old Sakshi, her father, Sukhbir Malik became emotional with joy after seeing his daughter with the Olympic medal. The bronze medallist traveled towards her village in an open hooded vehicle and will make a number of stops before she reaches her home.
