Gautam Gambhir is coming back in full form in upcoming Test of September 30. He was out of Indian squad when he managed to score only three runs in two innings, and that was the time when he played his last test for India at the Oval in 2014. Since then he can’t be seen in any matches because of his form.
But things were good when he was given the responsibility of captaincy of India blue team for Duleep Trophy which is considered to be historic. He even scored a good number of 90 and 59 in two innings against India Green. When he played against India Red, he managed to score 77 in the first innings. Gambhir flourished in the final too and scored 94 and 36 against Yuvraj Singh when he led India Red and won the title triumph.
Gambhir was in a great form which deviated when Sehwag left. He somehow lost his place and form both. Both were hugely successful for India, but Gambhir couldn’t keep up his place for much longer period.
He played really well for India by scoring 4046 runs with a decent average of 4258 in test matches. He even played some important knocks for India but with the rise of Murli Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan, Gambhir was pushed down and out of the team.
Now with opener Lokesh Rahul’s hamstring injury during the Kanpur test , Gambhir get a chance to make a comeback in full form. Rahul’s pain is turned out to be Gambhir’s gain.
Shikhar Dhawan fielded as a substitute when Rahul was dismissed for 38.
Coach Anil Kumble, as per some sources has called Gambhir who is in his form as a backup opener for second Test match in Kolkata on September 30. Meanwhile, Indian team management is looking after Rahul’s injury.
Gambhir last played in 2014 during England tour will undergo a fitness test at National Cricket Association in Bengaluru for upcoming match.
