After a long gap of 90 years, RSS, the ideological mentor of the ruling BJP is all set to replace khaki shorts with brown trousers. This new change will take effect from October 11. However, the sale of the new dress has already been started with each piece costing Rs. 250.

Commenting on the development, Manmohan Vaidya, head of the RSS communications department revealed that around 2 lakh full pants have already reached offices of the organization in various states across India.
These new trousers will be provided to all its members. But the relevant member should pay Rs. 250 per one unit. Vaidya added that the money sourced from the sale of the new uniform will be used for the development of the organization.

Nearly 7 Lakh new trouser ready for distribution

According to official sources, around 7 lakh new trousers are expected to be shared among all the members of the RSS during the first phase. Even though the new trousers are being sold now, the members should ear it only from October 11. This is because the RSS has planned to adopt the new Ganavesh from the upcoming Vijayadashami. To recall, the foundation day of the RSS falls on the day of Vijayadashami.

Decision not taken in haste

The decision to migrate to the brown trousers was not taken all of a sudden. It was taken in March 2016 at the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, which is the annual meeting of the RSS’s highest decision-making body. The new brown trousers will be matched with a white shirt, black cap, brown socks and bamboo sticks in a bid of end the 9-decade long traditional custom.

Material for trousers sourced from Bhilwara, Rajasthan

Even though the new complete pants have been manufactured in various parts of the country, the raw material has been sourced from the textile town of Bhilwara in Rajasthan.

In a communication issued to all RSS branches, all the existing and new members should wear the new trousers at the annual Vijaydashmi celebrations.
