On Thursday, May 4th, a poster of the Bollywood film ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ was released. The filmmaking team and the central character Kangana Ranaut released it at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi. There is an epic reason behind the release of this poster at this Ghat. The film is based on the Queen of Jhansi who was born in Varanasi in 1828. Her nickname was Manikarnika and, here, Kangana Ranaut is playing that role in the film.
The Queen was born in a Brahmin family that considered death better than living without respect. The story of the Queen is quite relatable to that of today’s women. In the poster, Kangana Ranaut is looking a queen in all respects. She is hopeful that people would appreciate her role in this film as they did in the past. She says that she is honored being there at the Ghat with her team. Later in the evening, she also attended Ganga Aarti along with other team members.
Music Director Shankar Mahadevan, singer Richa Sharma, and lyricist Prasoon Joshi also joined her in the poster release event. The lyricist and scriptwriter said that it would never have been possible without Kangana Ranaut playing the central role. “No other actress could have played the role with such determination. She has attended the training sessions for horse riding and sword fighting”. She says, “I’m so blessed to be here. With the blessings of Lord Shiva, we have launched it here. After coming on board for this project, I feel like I’ve achieved something very big in my life”.
The lyricist Prasoon Joshi and the writer of great films like Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijan, V Vijayendra Prasad have written the script of this film. Joshi considered himself honored being able to work with Vijayendra Prasad. The director of the film is Krish. The film was announced by Ketan Mehta two years ago.
