The most popular social media app Whatsapp is now all set to compete with other digital money transfers apps like Paytm, PhonePe, and Google Pay by enabling the money transfer features using the UPI method. According to the report Facebook-owned company, WhatsApp amazed its users by adding a new payment feature for all users in India. Reportedly, Whatsapp’s new update will allow its users to add payments background while sending money to their friends from the app.
There are reports which suggest that only Indian users can use this exclusive feature on their favorite messaging app Whatsapp. Now, Whatsapp users can convey their feeling along with sending money through this new payment backgrounds feature.
One of the sources revealed that the social media platform WhatsApp disclosed that conversations involving payments will be transactional. In addition to this, the Facebook-owned app also revealed that users can personalize this around themes, occasions or festivals.
According to the recent report, the new payments background feature of the social media app WhatsApp is inspired by the payments background feature of the online money transfer app GooglePay, as this exclusive feature of Whatsapp is a lot similar to GooglePay. Whatsapp’s new payments background feature has been designed in a way that looks a lot like the payments background feature of GooglePay.
One of our news sources revealed that similar to Google pay, Whatsapp users will be now able to add different attractive backgrounds while transferring the amount. Besides this, it is also disclosed by the news sources that, Whatsapp has become the first messaging app to roll out the payments feature in India. Whatsapp’s new payment feature had been rolled out in partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
Moreover, It is also revealed that like other digital money transfer apps, WhatsApp will also allow its users to transfer money using the UPI method, as the Unified Payments Interface, or UPI method is one of the simple methods which allows the users to transfer the money from bank account to bank account in real-time. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) develop the UPI.
One of our sources also revealed that recently WhatsApp has tied up with 227 banks currently. Director of WhatsApp Payments Manesh Mahatme states that “With Payments Backgrounds, our effort is to bring excitement to everyday payments through WhatsApp and enable our users to express themselves if they wish, through a range of emotive themes denoting celebrations, affection, warmth, or fun. We believe that sending and receiving money is so much more than just a transaction,”.
In addition to this, Manesh Mahatme also stated that WhatsApp has become one of the best social media apps which secure the privacy of the user. And it has also become the platform where one can share their feelings and thoughts with their friends and family. He also added that ”Often it’s the stories behind the exchanges that are priceless”.
Besides this, the director of the social media platform also revealed that the ”company is looking forward to creating more surprising features and functionalities and continue making payments on WhatsApp an interesting and interactive experience.”
