Apple comes up with brilliant range of products all around the year. All the way from smartphones to laptops. One of the much anticipated product from the side of Apple is undoubtedly its smartwatch. Now recent report suggests that the Cupertino tech giant is working on a circular smartwatch.
Apple watch, which remains to be one of the most famous intelligent timepieces, seems to be declining as far as the sales are concerned. In order to turn things around, the company may adapt a different approach. Apple recently filed a patent application with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) titled ‘Electronic device having display with curved edges.’ What else would this indicate other than the fact that the company is exploring the possibility of a round watch. The existing Apple smartwatch comes with a square display unlike other famous products by companies like Samsung, Huawei and Motorola that essentially catch the consumer’s attention with its circular design.
Apple’s latest move suggests that the company plans on adding an array of pixel rows and columns of varying lengths thereby reducing crowding and saving substantial amount of space. While the company had filed the patent way back in 2015, the former was only approved of recently. At that time, the company didn’t consider the circle design to offer much to its consumers. “When a huge part of the function is lists, a circle just doesn’t make any sense,” Apple Design Chief Jony Ive told The New Yorker last year.
The market has witnessed a decline as far as smartwatches are concerned. Worldwide smartwatch sales made a record of 52 per cent decline in the third quarter compared to 2015.
