The year 2016 has been quite an eventful year especially when it comes to smartphones and their batteries. Users are facing battery issues wherein incidents where devices are exploding have even been reported. In a bizarre line of circumstances, none of brands are spared — not even Apple. Apple is known to provide products that are highly secured by nature.
Despite this, several iPhone users have faced issues regarding their batteries. The incidents increased especially after the iOS version 10.1 update. Apple users started complaining about a bug that causes the device to shut down as soon as it reaches the 30 per cent mark. Following this, Apple conducted an investigation into this issue. Soon, the company while acknowledging this problem, launched a battery replacement program to deal with the problem. They even went to make an official statement of their Chinese website.
“Apple attaches great importance to ever customer, especially their questions about Apple products. After learning the unexpected shutdown of iPhone users, we conducted a thorough investigation, collection of equipment and analysis,” the post read. “We found that a small number of iPhone 6s devices manufactured between September and October 2015 were exposed to controlled ambient air for too long before a battery component was loaded into the battery pack, causing the battery to drain faster than normal, resulting in an unexpected shutdown. It is worth emphasizing that this is not a security issue,” the post continued.
Apple in order to help customers solve the arising issue, conducted a device replacement free of charge. “iPhone 6s users can iPhone 6s unexpected shutdown problem is scheduled to enter the serial number on the page, to inquire about their equipment meets the conditions for a free replacement battery,” the post read.
Apple has intentionally designed the iPhone to allow the device to automatically shut down under certain conditions, such as extreme cold temperatures. “Some situations in which an automatic shutdown occurs may be unexpected for the customer, but this is designed to protect the electronic components from damage due to low voltages,” the post added.
