Reliance Jio had recently extended its Prime Membership to the users. This extension was made under the special Summer Surprise offer to the customers. However, Reliance Jio has announced the end of the particular offer to the new customers. This comes after an advisory by TRAI. However, this regulation will not affect the customers who have already registered. Those registered with the three-month benefit scheme can still enjoy the services.
On Thursday, Reliance Jio said that it would end the 3-months benefits offered to its users. In a company statement, the news was released. It was said that TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) had advised Jio to stop the complimentary services under the Summer Surprise package.
The statement added the company would accept the decision. Jio is in the process of complying with the advice of the committee. Therefore, it will withdraw the additional benefits for three months. This will take place over the next few days.
However, the company also said that those who have subscribed for the offer can avail the benefits. The users who will subscribe to the offer before the closure will be eligible for the offer.
Jio announced the Summer Surprise Offer on 31st March. It was issued in a letter that the Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani wrote to the Jio users. The Summer offer was available to all the Jio users. They just had to subscribe to the Jio Prime membership. This was priced at 99 INR per year. The users also had to complete a recharge of 303 INR or more to avail the benefits of the offer. With this offer, the Jio users could enjoy three months of extra services.
As part of the Summer Surprise offer, Ambani had referred this as the Shagun offer. It was said that the consumers will get the same service as they were receiving as part of the New Year offer. This was the continuation of the Welcome Offer by Jio. This was released in September last year. This implies that the Summer offer provides 1 GB of free data daily with free calls and messages. This offer was for another three months.
The Jio Happy New Year offer expired on 31st March, and Ambani had extended the Prime membership to April 15th. This was as the result of the great rush for the Jio Prime membership.
The users can hope for clear insight into the update in the coming days!
