On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will organize a meeting in order to pay respect and condole the demise of Union Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ananth Kumar.
A resolution condoling the demise of the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister and hailing his contribution would be passed.
Earlier also, similar resolutions were passed by the government after the demise of union ministers Gopinath Munde and Anil Madhav Dave.
Mr Ananth Kumar, who was a Member of Parliament for six times died in a hospital in Bengaluru early morning on Monday. As per the reports by the hospital, Mr Kumar was suffering from lung cancer since June as he was diagnosed with the disease at an advanced stage. The senior BJP leader was first admitted to Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre regarding the initial treatment and he was then taken to the US for further treatment, say sources. He returned 25 days ago and continued treatment in the hospital, sources added.
Mr. Kumar was one of the senior leaders of BJP and had been in the inner circle of the central leadership of the BJP. He was there at the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee or LK Advani and was present even at the time of Narendra Modi.
President Ram Nath Kovind said that the demise of the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister is a “tragic loss to public life” and “particularly for the people of Karnataka.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also showed his grief regarding the death of the senior leader of Bhartiya Janta Party.
“Extremely saddened by the passing away of my valued colleague and friend, Shri Ananth Kumar Ji. He was a remarkable leader, who entered public life at a young age and went on to serve society with utmost diligence and compassion. He will always be remembered for his good work,” he tweeted.
