CHENNAI: The Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and the national secretary Muralidhar Rao will represent the Bhartiya Janta Party at a memorial meeting for DMK supremo M Karunanidhi, the party said. This has made the people stopped with the guesswork regarding the participation of the party president Amit Shah in the event on 30th of August.
Apart from an array of political leaders throughout the country, Mr Gadkari, Minister for Shipping and a former national president of the party, and Mr Rao would attend the meeting that is going to be held soon, said BJP state unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan in one of his statements.
Besides these, the other names who are more likely to attend the meeting are Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, Ghulam Nabi Azad of Congress, chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, N Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar respectively, their Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal and CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury.
As per the sources, the DMK invitation has been accepted by Mr Shah which has halted the guesswork for political alignment regarding the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Recently, the DMK has been disapproving with the Bhartiya Janta Party on issues like Cauvery and NEET.
Regarding the Cauvery issue, the party even protested Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit to Tamil Nadu in April.
Apart from this, Black flags were hoisted at the residences of Karunanidhi, Stalin, Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and other leaders that signified protest against the PM’s visit and the decision of not forming Cauvery Management Board (CMB).
