The BJP co-founder rests peacefully at Smriti Sthan and his only daughter completed the last rites on the banks of the Yamuna with full state honors on Friday evening.
The RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat “With his ideas and conduct, he established the Indian values in his public life. He was an intense, decisive leader who was acceptable to all” on the demise of the first BJP Prime minister.
The last journey started at the BJP headquarters at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg to Smriti Sthal. The BJP senior leader was cremated after 4:30. Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and other senior party leaders walked along the carriage that carried Vajpayee’s mortal remains.
Almost leaders of all political parties and other dignitaries were present at the funeral ground. The SAARC dignitaries also paid respect.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was loved by every person either of his own party or of oppositions. On his demise, the whole nation mourned. Congress president Rahul Gandhi, former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav were present to show their last respect to the senior leader.
Union Minister Rajnath Singh, MP CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Ravi Shanker Prasad, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari and Nirmala Sitharaman were also present to see the leader for the last time.
After the release of death bulletin, Amit Shah mourned and said that the pole star of the nation was lost. A country has lost a big statesman. Atal Ji was a multi-talented personality, who not only worked for BJP but also guided the nation as a true hero. The void created by his death will take a long time to be filled.
Shah said, “A rare politician, brilliant speaker, poet and patriot, his demise is not just an irreparable loss for BJP but also for the entire country.”
Today Akhilesh Yadav,Samajwadi Party leader shared a pic of Mr Vajpayee blessing him and wife Dimple Yadav on their wedding and tweeted “Late Atal Ji raised politics above party politics, taught us to stay unrelenting about party principles and personal philosophy, whenever politics strayed off course, he showed the right way, taught us to seek out friendship with other nations. With Atal ji’s passing, the world of Indian politics and literature has lost a prominent voice. Silent salutation!”
