Kate Bosworth and her husband Michael Polish have decided to separate ways!
Actress and model Kate Bosworth, famously known for her work in the 2002 movie “Blue Crush,” and her director husband Michael Polish announced the news in a joint statement on 5th August. The couple is splitting after eight years of marriage. Before getting married, Bosworth and Polis were together for two years, making their relationship ten years long.
Kate took it to her Instagram to share the news with her fans. The 38-year-old actress shared a beautiful and intimate black and white of her and Polish kissing each other, laughing and lost in each other.
Kate began her caption with a quote from Big Sur: “How ‘bout a shot of whiskey?’ Hell yes.”
Beginning the statement, Kate stated, “The beginning is often the best part of love. Fireworks, magnets, rebellion — the attraction. The onset signals a wide open expanse of possibility. Split a burger with someone when you are falling in love, and you can die happily knowing this is your last meal. Buy a bottle of whiskey and share shots, pour me a waterfall. Play that perfect song on the jukebox and dance with someone you have known your whole life, though you met minutes ago,”
Next, the joint statement addressed the fear of ending. The statement read, “Inherently we fear an ending. To lose what you have because you got what you wanted. To be attached to the expectation of the outcome. The great Unknown.”
“What if we chose not to fear but instead, to love,” the statement further read. “If that most delicate and vulnerable last flicker to the flame became another type of furnace directly. Perhaps this will sound strange to some, romantic to other. To us: this is truth.”
Bosworth wrote, “Our hearts are full, as we have never been so enamored and deeply grateful for one another as we do in this decision to separate. Together, over the last ten years, Michael and I have chosen love, every time. We hold hands as tightly today as we entangled fingers on our wedding day. Our eyes look more deeply into one another, with more courage now. In the process of letting go, we have come to acknowledge that our love will never end. The connection does not simply disappear. The love deepens, the heart expands.”
Michael Polish, famously known for his directorial work in the movies “Jackpot” (2001) and “Northfork” (2003), has not shared anything about the news separately.
Michael (50) and Kate (38) began dating each other in the mid of 2011. Before that, the two stars had met for the first time on the set of the movie “Big Fur”, in which Kate was casted for the role of Willamine “Billie” Dabney. The movie was an adaptation of the 1962 novel of the same name by Jack Kerouac, which was written and directed by Michael Polish.
After almost a year of dating, the Bosworth and Polish announced their engagement in August 2012, and tied knot a year later on 31st August 2013. Their wedding ceremony was held at The Ranch at Rock Creek in Philipsburg, Mont. With their vows, Kate also became step mother to Michael’s daughter, Jasper, whom he had from his previous marriage with the makeup artist Jo Strettel.
The spark between Kate and Michael was love at first site. The year they got engaged, Kate shared her love for Michel and vice versa in an interview stating, “I never even dated my husband-to-be. He said to me after just a few weeks before we were even together, ‘I’m going to marry you.’ He just knew.”
Besides being in love with her husband, Kate also shared a great love and affection towards her step-daughter Jasper, who was a teenager at the time of her and Michael’s wedding. In an interview with VOGUE in 202, Kate had talked about modern motherhood, and shone a light on her relationship with Jasper.
Kate said at the time, “When I came into the picture, it was very important for me to have a relationship with Jo.” She continued, “At the beginning, I didn’t want to do anything wrong. When I met Jasper, I was 28, and I still felt like a kid myself. I was so excited; I didn’t feel fearful, I was incredibly thrilled to have her in my life. But I didn’t want to make a misstep that I remember.”
Kate had also stated that Jasper is “hands-down the greatest unexpected gift of her life.”
The fans and friends have supported the two and their decision. Commenting on Kate’s Instagram post, the TV host and journalist Elizabeth Chamber, who is the CEO of Bird Bakery, wrote, “Sending you both so much love and strength ❤”
Meanwhile, actress Sulem Calderon also supported the former couple and wished them well. Sulem comMented, “Beautifully said. Sending my love and the best of journeys to the both of you.”
One of the fans appreciated Kate’s well written caption and wrote, “This is written so beautifully that a lot of people didn’t get that they are separating.”
On the other hand, some fans are sad and disappointed with the news. Another fans sharing their disappointment commented, “Nooooo… oh my god. I don’t think I can believe in love anymore.”
“Oh wow! I’m sorry to hear that you are separating, but the way you are both dealing with it together is beautiful. So much admiration for the two of you,” wrote a fan, while another stated, “Beautifully put. To keep an open heart is to understand that all things are in cycles with a beginning and an end. Choosing Love and Gratitude helps illuminate the path. Sending lots of ✨ ✨to you both.”

Before Michael, Kate was in a relationship with the “The Lord of the Rings” star Orlando Bloom. The stayed together as a couple for three years, beginning from 2002 till their separation in 2005. Kate, in an interview in 2019, had revealed that she stopped dating after her breakup with Orlando Bloom.
Finally, after almost six year of her split from Orlando, she fell in love with Michael Polish.
Their love started from a professional front when the two were onboard for the same movie “Big Sur” but in different roles. However, the former couple has appeared together and collaborated in other multiple film projects including “Force of Nature,” “Before I Wake,” “90 Minutes in Heaven,” “Nona,’ and “Amnesiac.”
