Google’s e-mail service, aka Gmail, caused trouble for people in India today as the platform was reportedly down in some parts of the country. Due to the Gmail outage, users were unable to send and receive e-mails which created trouble for many on a working day.
As per the reports, the Gmail outage was experienced on Tuesday in India and some other countries. As per the data by Down Detector, around 73 percent of Gmail users reported inaccessibility to Google’s e-mail services and stated that they were facing issues with the website. Meanwhile, 14 percent of users complained about server connection, and the remaining 12 percent faced problems with logging into their Gmail accounts.
Google had not given any official statement regarding the issue yet. However, the users shared the problem on social media. However, people not only complained about Gmail, but some users also faced trouble using related applications and services by Google. Some users confirmed via social media that they were not able to go through Google Meet either.
The entire situation was largely confusing for people as upon writing to Gmail about the outage issue in India, Gmail denied the problem stating that no such problem appeared on their end. Gmail users shared wrote to the platform on Twitter, to which Gmail replied that the Google dashboard did not show any outages and requested the users to share more about the issue that they were experiencing.
The issue of the Gmail outage has been fixed as of now. This instance is another Gmail outage since it happened back in June 2021, when Gmail and other related services were inaccessible. The same incident happened at the end of 2020, which had affected millions of users around the globe. Back then, the service was hit in India due to some technical trouble. However, the platform had addressed the issue. But this time, there is no official statement about the outage from Google. The reason behind today’s outage is not known either.
Today’s Gmail outage was followed by the most recent and lengthiest outage of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. The latter happened a few days back, which affected users all around the world. The users suffered social media outages for around 6 hours globally. It took the world by fire and resulted in Mark Zuckerberg losing $6 billion in a matter of 6 hours.
However, even after all the services were restored, Instagram was hit with another outage just three days ago, which was the second outage in a week. But, it was not as severe as the one before that when all three major social media platforms were out. In fact, Facebook also posted an apology regarding the frequent instances of outages and inaccessibility to the social media platforms under them. The statement read, “We’re so sorry if you weren’t able to access our products during the last couple of hours. We know how much you depend on us to communicate with one another. We fixed the issue — thanks again for your patience this week.
