Fortnite launched its new Imposter Mode back in August 2021, but the mechanic seemed to be similar to some other game that became highly at the beginning of the 2020 pandemic. Finally, after two months of its launch, Fortnite has admitted that they copied the feature from the game Among Us and have offered collaboration.
Apparently, even though the mechanics, gameplay, design, etc. of Fortnite Imposter were found similar to that of Among Us’, but Fortnite did not acknowledge or give credits to Among Us or InnerSloth for it. They even used the same terminology, i.e., Impostors. As a result, the leading members of the team of InnerSloth raised a complaint about their work and idea being copied without any credit or a chance to collaborate.
Finally, Fortnite tactically accepted that they copied the viral Among Us game in a series of tweets for their Impostors mode, which became extremely popular soon after its release. Now, the official Fortnite Twitter account made the revelation crediting InnerSloth and also offered to collaborate in return. However, the former did not make a special announcement, and rather they subtly tagged Among Us in their tweet regarding the new updates in the game.
The Tweet posted by Fortnite on 12th October announcing a few updates in the Impostors mode read, Peely Party! Banana… Impostor’s mode, inspired by the hit @AmongUsGame, received some updates in v18.20, including:
White heavy check markRole Bias – Agent or Impostor? Get a better chance of getting the role you want
White heavy check markOpen Voice Chat Playlist – Discuss who’s being shady.”
In another tweet, Fortnite acknowledged how they never talked about Among Us being the inspiration for their new model. Offering to collaborate, Fortnite tagged Among Us and wrote, “@AmongUsGame Big fans! We never got to talk about how you inspired us. What do you think about working on something fun together sometime?”
Above all, Among Us also let everything pass and showed equal interest by agreeing to collaborate. As per the tweet by Among Us, the Fortnite agents will be contacting their crewmates. Although some believe the entire conversation and the tweet game is naturally pre-planned, we are soon going to see a Fortnite and Among Us collaboration.
Whatever the reason be, the new announcements have left the fans speculating what new could be there as a result of this collaboration of two game giants. As the Impostors mode by Fortnite is already out there, now only some new features can be added, such as new maps, tasks, mechanics, etc. However, some believe that Fortnite would not make such a large-scale announcement for just a few basic updates and features. So, some believe that Fortnite and Among Us may together make new cosmetics based on the latter, such as skins, hats, pets or buddies, and more.
Some followers or players believe that Fortnite would introduce the characters from Among Us. Certainly, fans are pretty excited about the new collaboration and what all new updates this venture could bring.
