The first look into the poster is everything that is expected, the cheesy romantic couple drenched in love and this film has the potential to be a blockbuster. Chetan Bhagat, India’s best-selling novelist whose dramatic writing hovers over the young and the middle-class situations which almost everyone can relate to. The Director of Aashiqui 2 (Mohit Suri), the Producers of Ek Villain, and on the other hand we will have Arijit Singh singing his lungs out. The movie also boasts of having the longest Hindi film song (18-minute sequence that Arijit Singh would sing).
Many books usually lead to movie adaptations, and there’s a sparking fire in both the industries. If a movie gets more people to read, then great; and if the readers get to see their dearest stars on the big screen, it’s even better. But a good book isn’t just identified on the basis of a successful movie they inspire; a good book is where the book lets the reader visualize the scenario and live through it. Chetan Bhagat has done that almost every single time.
Shraddha Kapoor (Riya Somani) and Arjun Kapoor (Madhav Jha) are playing the lead roles. It’s the first time both of them have been paired, and the look from the first poster is electrifying.
During the launch, Chetan Bhagat had said that “As I observe young people, I saw a lot of situations where people were more than friends but not quite in a Relationship. When you find someone special but you are not yet fully together, I felt there was something needed between a friend and girlfriend. Hence, Half Girlfriend was born”. The makers of the film have announced that the trailer will be released on April 10, 2017, and the movie will be out in cinemas on May 19, 2017.
The film went into the production phase in March 2016 and was extensively shot in Mumbai, New York, London, Delhi and in Bihar. The new poster has a lot of emotions in it and is exactly the remake of the cover of Chetan Bhagat’s novel where Madhav Jha holds out a hand as Riya Somani walks away. Now it’s all fingers crossed, and we all hope that it’ll be as good or even better than the previous adaptation of the book, 2 States.
