The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is going to launch its second lunar mission Chandrayaan-2. This second lunar exploration mission will make soft land near the South Pole of the Moon. It would be the first-ever mission to launch at this place. Here, it is interesting to mention that the organization has chosen two places for the landing of this mission. The mission would land at one of these two places. The former ISRO chief says that they have identified two locations and will be choosing one of those. He further says that no other mission has landed in this area.

ISRO’s Liquid Propulsion System Center is busy with preparations for this soft landing. It is also worth mentioning that this center is in Mahindra Giri, Tamil Nadu. The organization has made a prototype of this Chandrayaan-2 mission. This prototype has pretended the soft landing from a height of 70-80 meters.

The former ISRO chief has also said that the flight hardware of this Chandrayaan-2 mission is in process. This means that the organization is planning to launch this flight in Q1 of this year. The Chandrayaan-2 mission consists of a lunar orbiter, a Lander, and a six-wheel rover. On reaching the orbit of the Moon, the Lander would separate from the orbiter and land in the South Pole. Here, it is also important to mention that the rover will also land with the Lander because of attachment with it.

This rover will travel around the orbit and the instruments and tools fixed in it will analyze the surface and send the information to the orbiter. This data from rover will help in studying the surface of the Moon. Here, it is also worth mentioning that India is going to land this rover for the first time in the history.
