The famous heartthrob and former “Bachelor” star Colton Underwood has announced being gay. He came out as gay on GMA during an interview with Robin Roberts, which aired on Wednesday.
Underwood said, “I’ve ran from myself for a long time. I’ve hated myself for a long time. I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it, and the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know.”
According to Colton, he realized being different when he was 6 years old. He chose to open up now because he went through a dark place in his life with his secret and even attempted suicide. The former NFL player said, “Overall the reason why now is because I got to a place where … I would’ve rather died than say I’m gay,”

Colton says he is the happiest and healthiest now!
After realizing and accepting the truth, Colton said that he is “the happiest and healthiest now.” In the interview with Roberts, Colton described the dark phase of his life. He told, “There was a moment in LA that I woke up, and I didn’t think I was going to wake up. I didn’t have the intentions of waking up. I think that for me was my wakeup call.” However, he finally gathered the courage and finally reached a point where he could be honest with himself.
Not only did Colton came out of the closet, but also directly apologized to his ex Cassie Randolph, whom he met on the show “The Bachelor”. He also admitted being in love with Cassie, which, as Colton said, confused him even more about his sexuality. Colton shared, “I would like to say sorry for how things ended. I messed up. I made a lot of bad choices… It made it more confusing for me. I loved everything about her. I wish that would’ve been courageous enough to fix myself before breaking anyone else.”
He also thanked and apologized to all the women he hurt by appearing on “The Bachelor”. Colton said, “I just wish I wouldn’t have dragged people into the mess of figuring out who I was… But I can sit here and say I’m sorry to all of those women, and I can also say thank you because without them and without ‘The Bachelor’ franchise, I don’t know if this would’ve come out.”
