Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft Corporation is the richest man in the world for the last 23 years. Yesterday, a very stunning change took place in the market index. The start of the day surprised the people when they saw Amazon CEO’s name at the top of the list as the richest man. He had a net worth of $90.6 billion. The Microsoft CEO had a net worth of $90.1 billion. This showed that Jeff Bezos had $500 million more net worth than Bill Gates.

The most surprising is the reality that Jeff started its business in 1994. He started selling books online. Within a short span of two decades, he has achieved the honor of being the richest man in the world. On Thursday, Amazon stock opened up at the figure of 1.6% and this added $1.4 billion to the net worth of its CEO. This growth proved enough to make him the richest man. A year ago Bill Gates lost this position for only two days. A Spanish retail giant crossed him for two days on Forbes.com.

Forbes is a platform that tracks the billionaires across the world. It started this practice in 1987 and since then there have been seven people who have won this honor. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is the seventh in the list. He is also the third American person to reach this position. Here, it is pertinent to note that the top position at Forbes does not account for the whole wealth earned over the years. This is because Bill Gates has given $31.1 billion to charity organizations. This is because he wanted to provoke the billionaires across the world to spend some parts of their wealth on noble causes.

There are also reports that Amazon CEO has also given $100 million to charitable organizations at the end of 2015. Bill Gates also tops the list of the richest people in Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
